Identification Benefits for Everyone
Designed with the same background and layout as the driver’s license, the State ID card offers identification benefits without being a driver’s license. Perfect for minors and non-drivers of all ages, confidently carry a State ID while leaving harder-to-replace documents safely at home.
Why Get a State ID Card?
- Convenience: A state ID card is an official form of identification accepted by financial institutions, government agencies, and businesses. It’s a simple solution for minors and individuals needing a government-issued ID for various activities requiring photo verification of age and identity, especially when a school-issued ID alone is not enough.
- Traveling and Activities: A state ID card provides an additional layer of identification while on-the-go. It provides peace of mind when engaging in activities like kayaking or camping, where carrying around more sensitive documents could be a hassle. Please note, however, that the state ID does not replace your passport when traveling internationally.
- Emergency Situations: In emergencies, a State ID card ensures vital information like name, date of birth, and address are readily available to authorities and medical personnel.
- Identity Theft Protection: While a state ID card alone may not completely prevent identity theft, it reduces the need to carry sensitive documents like a social security card or birth certificate, minimizing the risk of identity theft if lost or stolen.
Make your State ID Card REAL ID-compliant!
State ID Cards are available in both Standard (Non-Travel) and Travel ID form. A Standard (Non-Travel) State ID Card is labeled “Not for Federal Identification”, meaning that after May 7, 2025 this form of ID alone is not sufficient to board a domestic flight or enter a federal building. A Travel ID Card is marked by the star located on the upper right hand corner.
Consider upgrading to the Travel ID Card to avoid the hassle of carrying around additional identification or paying for another ID if you decide to upgrade later.
