The Arizona Travel ID Driver License is an official identification card that meets the enhanced security standards set by the Federal Real ID Act.

The Travel ID Driver License adds an embedded star that proves your ID meets the new federal identification requirements. Beginning May 7, 2025, only the Arizona Travel ID Driver License (or State Identification Card), a U.S. passport, and other federally approved identification will be accepted at TSA airport security checkpoints for domestic travel.

Getting a Travel ID Driver License for the first time requires submitting identification documents that verify your identity, age, authorized presence, and Arizona residency.

  • Arizona Driver License Application
  • Social Security Number
  • Proof of legal presence, which could be the following:
  • 2 proof of Arizona residency from an official source. For example: utility bill, mortgage company, leasing company, school, or government agency.

Yes! Non-drivers of all ages can obtain a Travel ID in the form of a State Identification Card. The credential will say “Identification Card”  at the top and will serve the same identification purpose, without being a Driver License.

Simply bring in your Travel ID identification documents  — official, original, and unexpired identification documents along with two (2) proofs of address in Arizona.

Typically, the Arizona Travel ID Driver License is valid for eight (8) years if you’re under 65 and five (5) years if you’re over 65. But, if you’re a foreign resident in the US, the expiration of your Arizona Travel ID depends on your legal residency status, as shown on your authorized presence documents.
